Florian Plettenberg: Manchester City’s interest in Enzo Fernandes becomes ‘concrete’
A sensational update from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that a move to the Etihad Stadium has quickly become a “concrete” possibility for Fernandes.
The report states that Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca remains completely “desperate” to secure the former Chelsea general’s signature.
Maresca, who reportedly has a very close and trusting relationship with the midfielder, sees Fernandes as a unique tactical profile and exactly the type of dynamic orchestrator that City’s star-studded engine room currently lacks.
However, the Citizens will face stiff competition for the 25-year-old’s services. European powerhouse Real Madrid have been strongly linked with signing the Argentine player.
Paris Saint-Germain have also put Fernandes on their transfer list, putting the midfielder at the center of the continent’s heavyweight tug-of-war.

Despite arriving at Stamford Bridge for a record-breaking fee and subsequently taking over the captain’s armband, Fernandes is widely expected to secure his departure from west London during the next period.

A grueling campaign ended with a defeat away to Sunderland on the final day, which many believe was his farewell game in a Chelsea shirt.
Fernandes enjoyed an individual season statistically, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in 53 appearances in all competitions, but his heart was elsewhere.
In January, just after Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League by PSG, Enzo openly admitted he would welcome the chance to live in the Spanish capital, while also teasing a move to Real Madrid.
The midfielder answered “I don’t know” when asked if he would remain at the club next season, casting doubt on his involvement in Chelsea’s project.
In the end, then-manager Liam Rosenior said he had “crossed the line” and suspended him for two games.
Enzo was then reported to be more definitive about his future, hinting that he might submit a transfer request.
Although he has not submitted his request yet, Enzo is likely to leave, with Real Madrid and Man City emerging as leading candidates.
