Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign RB Leipzig star Yann Diomande, with manager Fabrizio Romano confirming the Reds are in active talks with the player’s representatives ahead of a potential summer move.

However, Liverpool face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the highly-rated Ivorian player, potentially leading to a fierce transfer battle for one of Europe’s rising talents.

Reinforcement appears to be a key priority as Liverpool prepare for another major summer rebuild under Arne Slott.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool and PSG are in talks to sign Yann Diomande

Romano revealed to X that both Liverpool and PSG are currently in talks with Diomande’s camp over a possible transfer.

However, the respected transfer journalist stressed that the situation remains complex.

RB Leipzig are thought to have offered the midfielder a new contract, including a release clause, to avoid increased interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

Romano said the final decision would ultimately rest with Diomande and Leipzig, who remain in a strong position in negotiations regarding a potential transfer fee.

Liverpool are also targeting PSG’s Bradley Barcola

According to Romano, the Reds are also keeping an eye on PSG winger Bradley Barcola, who has been linked with Liverpool in the past.

Italian transfer experts say Barcola is high on Liverpool’s shortlist as they look to replace Salah in the summer.

Yann Diomande or Bradley Barcola: who is better suited for Liverpool?

With both players on the radar of Liverpool, Slott and his staff face a strategic choice.

Diomand represents an explosive, high-ceiling option. The Ivorian excels on the right flank, vacated by Salah, and is a natural goalscorer who likes to cut inside.

His quick acceleration and clinical finishing fit perfectly into the traditional profile of a high-pressing Liverpool forward.

PSG’s Bradley Barcola, on the other hand, has standard tactical versatility. Usually operating from the left, Barcola is a creative and direct dribbler, focused on stretching the opposition’s line and supplying important passes.

Yann Diomande vs Bradley Barcora 25/26 Stats

If Liverpool want a direct goal threat mirroring Salah’s performances from the right-wing, Diomande looks like the ideal piece of the puzzle.

However, if the club prefers flexibility across the front three, Barcola remains a world-class option.

Given Salah’s incredible goalscoring, Liverpool may likely need both to replace him.
