  • Sabinho is struggling at Man City under Guardiola.
  • Tottenham could benefit from a player like Savignho

Tottenham are reportedly ready to revive their interest in Manchester City winger Sabinho, with a £60m move being mooted ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs tried to sign the Brazilian last summer and revisited the deal in January, but the deal never crossed the line.

Tottenham appear ready to re-sign the 22-year-old as part of a major rebuild under manager Roberto De Zerbi after a disastrous season in which they narrowly avoided relegation.

Sabinho’s situation at Manchester City is interesting. Because he hasn’t performed as well as many people expected.

Although he joined Girona with great results and a great reputation, the 2025-26 season turned out to be a disappointing one.

Sabinho is struggling at Man City under Guardiola.

He started just seven games in the Premier League, with his impact limited by injuries and competition for his position, according to reports.

Perhaps that’s why Tottenham feel they have a chance.

City have a wealth of attacking options and with the reported arrival of Antoine Semenyo, Sabinho could fall further down the pecking order.

There is also uncertainty over what will become of City under new manager Enzo Maresca following the departure of Josep Guardiola, and the player may have to decide whether he wants to fight for his spot or become a central figure elsewhere.

For Tottenham, this interest is understandable. Their wide areas require more sparks.

Injuries to players such as Dejan Kulusevski, Mohamed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Wilson Odbert have taken a toll on them, and at times Spurs have had to use players outside their wide positions.

Tottenham could benefit from a player like Savignho

Sabinho would bring speed, flair and natural one-on-one ability, which is exactly the kind of thing De Zerbi likes in a wide player.

Spurs need a player with upside, not just a safe contract. Sabinho has the potential to become a star if he plays regularly and has confidence.

He could remain a rotation player at City. At Tottenham, he could become one of the key players in the attack.

The key question is whether the Spurs are buying a chance or paying too much money for a superstar too soon.

This could be a wise move if De Zerbi truly believes Savinho fits into his system. However, Tottenham have just finished the season and cannot afford to make another big-money signing for a player who will take too long to settle in.
