  • Marinakis ready to back Pereira in signing Crystal Palace star to Nottingham Forest
  • Nottingham Forest aim to reach ‘final agreement’ for signature in coming days

Nottingham Forest’s summer transfer window is starting to take shape, with manager Vitor Pereira looking to strengthen his squad after a campaign that saw the club barely retain their Premier League status.

The biggest news surrounding Forest this week concerns star midfielder Elliott Anderson.

Reliable reports claim that Man City made an initial bid for the England international, only to have it rejected by Forest (manager David Ornstein).

Anderson’s performances over the past season have only strengthened his position at the City Ground, but they may be resigned to losing him to England’s elite rivals as a result.

However, it is unlikely that manager Evangelos Marinakis will allow him to leave easily, with reports suggesting the Greek billionaire could demand up to £120 million.

Tricky Trees finished well with 25/26 after a whirlwind campaign.

The former Newcastle United midfielder has established himself as a key figure under Pereira, combining energy, creativity and defensive ability in the middle of the pitch.

Forest’s reluctance to make City’s initial approach highlights how highly they value the 23-year-old and highlights the club’s determination to avoid losing any key members of their squad.

At the same time, Forest continues to evaluate additional possibilities.

Recent reports suggest that Marinakis is looking to supplement Pereira with a new centre-forward, with the club being linked with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Galatasaray winger Roland Salay is also said to be a target, while talks for Roma defender Jan Dziolkowski are reportedly continuing following Italian claims that talks between the clubs could take place within the next few days.

Now, another defensive option has emerged.

Nottingham Forest have contacted Eintracht Frankfurt defender Arthur Teate about a possible move, according to Sky Swiss journalist Sascha Tavolieri.

The Belgium international has spent the past two seasons in Frankfurt and is understood to be open to a new challenge.

Tavolieri says Forest are among the clubs who have made inquiries, along with Bournemouth, as interest in the defender begins to grow.

Teate is a player with extensive experience in major European leagues.

Prior to joining Frankfurt, he built a strong reputation in Italy during his time at Bologna, where his performances attracted widespread attention. His performances in Serie A earned him a move to Germany, where he continued to develop into one of Belgium’s most reliable defenders.

This background explains why interest extends beyond the UK.

According to Tavolieri’s report, Teate remains highly regarded in Italy and the Serie A club continues to monitor his situation. Therefore, it seems likely that Forest will face competition if they decide to pursue a formal offer.

From Pereira’s perspective, the appeal is clear.

Teate is capable of functioning as a central defender, but can also play at left-back if needed. That versatility gives Forest further tactical flexibility, which could often prove useful throughout the long Premier League season.

At 26 years old, he is also approaching what many would consider the peak of his career. His experience at international level with Belgium and in European competitions will bring further quality to Forest’s defensive unit.

It remains to be seen whether this interest will turn into concrete negotiations.

Anderson is attracting significant interest from City and looks set to be another busy summer for Forest as several next targets are being considered.
