Pedro Polo is set to sign a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old defender is under contract with the London club until 2028, and the two sides are now set to finalize an agreement that will keep him at the club until 2031. Tottenham also have the option to extend his contract for a further 12 months.
The Athletic reports that the new deal will make the 26-year-old one of the club’s highest-paid players.
Pedro Polo was a key player
The Spain international has been an outstanding player for Tottenham and has been linked with a move to a number of clubs in recent months. He is an important player for them and keeping him at the club will be an absolute priority for the north London outfit. Fans will be pleased to see that the player is close to signing a new contract with the club.
Polo played in 152 games for the Spurs, scoring 13 goals and providing 26 assists.
Tottenham finished 17th in the league last season and will be aiming for a strong comeback. They need to improve their squad during the summer transfer window, but retaining key players will be just as important.
Polo wants to stay at Tottenham
It is clear that Polo is satisfied with the project at Tottenham and wants to stay for the long term. This development will be a big boost for the team. It remains to be seen whether the two sides can put this move together quickly.
Tottenham need to sign quality players in the summer transfer window to get back on track. A club of their stature has to secure a top-four finish and fight for trophies. Roberto De Zerbi helped keep the team safe last season and the Italian wants to lead them into the top four again next season.
