According to Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t TuttoAtalanta), the player has several big-money offers from big clubs such as Manchester City, but he has communicated his commitment to Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi and wants to honor it.
The player is doing everything in his power to convince Newcastle to accept Tottenham’s offer. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can conclude a deal. The fact that he has decided to join will be a huge win for the north London club.

Spurs need a player like Tonali
They need a quality defensive midfielder and the 26-year-old could change their game. Apart from his ability to break up play and win the ball back, he is very capable with the ball at his feet, able to recycle possession and control the tempo of the game from deep.
He is clearly ahead of Newcastle and it would be ideal for him to join a higher quality team that can fight for trophies. Although Tottenham finished 17th in the league last season, they have quality players at their disposal and have brought in a top manager like De Zerbi.
They can bounce back strongly next year and fight for trophies. With some intelligent additions, there’s no reason they can’t qualify for the Champions League again.
