The Wimbledon Championships has already produced some great drama. The 2026 edition of the tournament has concluded with the opening round, and many top players are still in the running for their third Grand Slam title this year.

This includes both top seeds Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka. They had completely different matches to start their journey through the bracket. Sinner had to battle an injury scare through five sets against Miomir Kecmanovic on Monday, but Sabalenka was able to fend off her opponent.

The biggest upset so far is No.4 Ben Shelton lost in 5 sets To Otto Virtanen. The top-seeded American also withdrew in the second round of the French Open earlier this year.

Additionally, 8th place Elina Svitolina lost to compatriot Daria Snigl in straight sets. And while many had high hopes for Serena Williams’ return, they were quickly dashed. Lost in the opening match in singles Play against Maya Joint.
