£25m deal completed: Chelsea star completes move to PL club

Everton and Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement for the £25m transfer of Tyrik George.

The highly-rated 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan from Chelsea to Everton, and it appears the two clubs are currently negotiating a permanent contract.

BBC Sport claims the deal is worth an upfront payment of £17m, with the package potentially including £8m in additional options.

George has long looked promising, but it is always difficult at a club like Chelsea where there is so much top-flight competition for first-team spots.

It looks like a good move for George to try a new challenge as Everton looks like it will be a good club for his development.

David Moyes is an experienced manager who often brings out the best in his top young players, so he could be a good mentor for George at this stage of his career.

Who else could leave Chelsea this summer?

Marc Cucurella also recently left Stamford Bridge to join Real Madrid, so George’s sale is not expected to be his last at Chelsea.

While there is talk, such as Foot Mercato, of Maro Gusto potentially leaving Chelsea for Manchester City, it will probably be difficult for failures like Nicholas Jackson and Liam Delap to stay.

While it would be beneficial for Chelsea to potentially be able to sell a player like this for a sizable profit, a £25m deal in the bank for academy product George is also great business.

These and other similar sales could help in the transfer market, as CFC have already spent heavily in recent summers and may have to do so again if they want to bounce back from a disappointing 2025/26 season in which they finished 10th in the Premier League without winning any trophies.
