Earlier this evening, two very reliable journalists, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, posted that Ederson’s move to Man United has now collapsed.

Mollet said Ederson had failed a medical, while Romano revealed the Red Devils had informed Atalanta they would not sign the Brazilian midfielder.

However, multiple sources close to United have contradicted themselves, insisting that the deal has not yet been broken, even though there are some issues that appear to complicate matters.

The Sun’s Samuel Luckhurst wrote: “[United]stress that the process is underway for three potential signings (Ederson, Santos and Darlow) and that it is not accurate to say Ederson is out of contract. But at least there is clearly considerable doubt about this.”

Stephen Railstone of the Manchester Evening News posted:United sources strongly deny that Ederson’s contract is off. #mufc I feel that any suggestion that the transfer has fallen apart is pressure to conclude a deal.”

Could this be pressure from Atalanta leaked to Italian journalists? We’ll probably find out soon enough.

Will Manchester United pursue Manu Corn over Ederson?

Another theory could be that United simply passed on Ederson because they preferred Roma’s Manu Kone.

The Frenchman, valued at €50 million, is currently the center of attention in United’s midfield, as reported by Sport Mediaset.

Kone would probably be a better deal than Ederson, but it seems odd that MUFC would make the same progress with one signing and then make a last-minute U-turn to sign another player.

We hope the situation becomes clear soon and we will do our best to keep everyone updated.
