  • Fulham aim to re-sign Martial Godo
  • Fulham join race to sign La Liga winger
        • Agent begins club record transfer, player to choose between Sunderland and Fulham

Fulham are keen to sign RC Strasbourg winger Martial Godo and are also targeting Premier League and London rivals Chelsea.

The Cottages signed Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, announcing the signing of the left-winger, but the Brazilian failed to make the best of his debut season, picking up just one goal and two assists in 26 Premier League games.

Goto, meanwhile, was a constant threat for Strasbourg in the domestic and European Conference leagues last season, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in 44 games in all competitions.

In fact, the Strasbourg star averaged 0.57 goals per 90 in Ligue 1. For reference, Raul Jimenez averaged 0.37 goals per 90 in the Premier League, Fulham’s best performance in this metric.

Other Ligue 1 statistics for Martial Godo

  • Play time 1,587 minutes

  • 10 goals

  • 2 assists

  • 1.0 shots on target per 90

  • 8 big opportunities missed

The former Fulham player was hailed as an “incredibly talented footballer” by journalist Dylan McBennett at the end of 2024, but has clearly really hit his stride since leaving Craven Cottage.

Fulham aim to re-sign Martial Godo

According to a report from Africa Foot (via Sport Witness), Fulham are determined to re-sign Godot and beat rivals Coventry City and Chelsea to secure his contract.

Of course, BlueCo own Strasbourg and Chelsea, suggesting that a focus on the left winger would make the deal easier, but the Cottage are keen to ensure that doesn’t happen.

In order to win the race, plans are being made to offer the Strasbourg star a key role in coach Alvaro Arbeloa’s project.

Football Fancast Verdict

reliability

Given Kevin’s poor performance last season, it would make sense for Fulham to sign an upgrade this summer. Liverpool are said to be keen to sign Kevin, and if a deal goes through, it would further increase their need to sign a new left-winger.

finances

It is unclear at this point what kind of compensation Strasbourg is seeking. However, back in April it was suggested he could command up to £44m, which would make the Ligue 1 star an expensive addition to Arbelois’ side.

insight

The Ivorian star could be worth a fee at that venue given his achievements in Strasbourg. In his debut season in Ligue 1, he was involved in 12 goals, the second most in the Strasbourg team. Back in March, the 23-year-old turned heads in his first game for Ivory Coast, scoring and assisting in a 4-0 win over South Korea.

impact

Godou has the ability to play on the left and could replace Kevin, but he can also play on the right and challenge Oscar Bob for the starting spot.

Fulham join race to sign La Liga winger

Fulham certainly have no shortage of targets on the left wing, and are also in the race to sign Sevilla star Joaquín Oso, who scored two goals and provided three assists in La Liga last season.

However, the Cottage may need to move quickly to secure his contract, with Nottingham Forest also making an approach to sign the 23-year-old.
