The Brazil international has been heavily linked with the Gunners and Edwards appears to have finally admitted he feels there are serious doubts over his future.

Eddie Howe resigned as Newcastle manager today, with Edwards writing in X that perhaps the release of Guimarães could be the last straw for the English tactician.

In a follow-up to his previous post about Howe leaving Newcastle, Edwards said: “Howe believes Bruno Guimarães will be sold this summer… the last straw.”

This is significant as Edwards has previously played down talk of a move from Guimarães to Arsenal, but it appears he has finally received information that is more in line with what many other journalists have been reporting for some time.

Arsenal fans will be hoping this means that Guimarães will be undergoing a major update in the near future, as he would be a very exciting addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Bruno Guimarães is unhappy with Eddie Howe’s departure from Newcastle

Guimarães is said to be unhappy with Howe’s departure, but it’s no wonder that all the changes within Newcastle are making everyone nervous.

Guimarães could follow Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali in leaving NUFC this summer, while Alexander Isak left last year to join Liverpool.

All of this has contributed to the Magpies’ significant downturn, and it’s hard to imagine a world-class player like Guimarães surviving in such conditions.

The 28-year-old is probably best suited for the Emirates Stadium and would give Arsenal more depth in the center of the park, having relied heavily on Declan Rice and Martin Zvimendi for the majority of last season, playing 90 minutes twice a week.
