Home is a “special” victory for Norris

Randorris described his first home victory at the British Grand Prix as “more special than ever” after winning Silverstone.

Oscar Piastri overtook Pousetter Max Verstappen while Norris was in third place, but the safety car incident saw Paistri unsteady and Verstappen spinning at the first corner opened Norris’ door. He didn’t make any mistakes before his teammates were penalised at the final pit stop and continued to put pressure on Piastri, and Norris won in the 6/8 and took the lead in the first time in his home race.

“Where do you start?” Norris said. “That means a huge amount. At the end of the day, being on top in a home race is very special. And this started all for me. I was watching on TV.

“I think Lewis won and seeing him go around and all the fans standing up, I think I’ve dreamed of a photo of Silverstone vibe for years.

“From my friends and family, my brothers, my sisters, my sisters, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad’s parents, everyone I can be here. So, yeah, more special than ever, 100%, and it’s a difficult race to do that.”

Norris admits that he was full of emotion after the victory, but he didn’t take advantage of the Piastri penalty to rank it as his best drive.

“There were no tears. I tried, but I don’t know. When I get emotional, I don’t cry, I just smile. It’s pure happiness. It’s pure joy in the moment you’re in.

“As I said before, this is where it all started for me. I’ve seen this and I have all my grandstands here. Even before the race thinks, ‘I have to win today,’ there’s probably no reason why it can’t be me.”

“I always draw and it’s hard to be too positive before the race and I never say today will be my day, but I was really excited about this morning.

“The last two laps are you looking up at the fans, standing up, standing up and cheering on. These are moments no one really gets, and these are things I (the media) witness.

“The best victory for me. It may not be the best way to win. I won’t say it’s my best victory – it’s not true. But in the sense of winning here, here, the desire to do it in front of my grandstand, my family, my friends, my friends, his royal Highness (Burrain)
