The NBA 2K26 video game, announced by 2K on Thursday, will allow players to create teams featuring both WNBA and NBA athletes. In the MyTeam mode, gamers can mix and match legendary women’s basketball players like Angel Reese, Kate Linklark, Sheryl Swoops, and Lisa Leslie with NBA stars such as Shaizil Jew Alexander, Steph Curry, Carmelo Anthony, and Shaquille O’Neal.

WNBA player cards will be fully incorporated into MyTeam mode, with 2K promising a fair and enjoyable gameplay experience on the court. Additionally, all WNBA uniforms and court designs will be included, accompanied by commentary from broadcasters Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, and Stan Vanguardy.

Angel Reese will be featured as a cover athlete for several versions of this year’s game, alongside Carmelo Anthony and Shaizil Jew Alexander, with the release date set for September 5th.

Fan Take: This inclusion is a huge step forward for the WNBA, providing greater visibility and recognition by placing women’s basketball stars on equal footing with their NBA counterparts. It not only enhances the gaming experience but also helps grow the sport’s fanbase and inspire future generations of female athletes.
