Wolves sack Vitor Pereira after making history in the Premier League

Wolves have sacked manager Vitor Pereira, becoming the latest team in the Premier League to part ways with their manager. The 57-year-old, who was in charge for 11 months, becomes the fourth manager in the league to be sacked, following Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou (both of Nottingham Forest) and Graham Potter (West Ham).

It has been a disastrous start to the season for Wolves, who are yet to win a league game. Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham confirmed an undesirable part of Premier League history (via Squawka). They became the first club to start two consecutive seasons without a win in 10 games.

Against this background, Wolves have decided to sack Pereira, as confirmed in an official statement on Sunday afternoon.

“Wolves have parted ways with head coach Vitor Pereira following a winless start to the 2025/26 season.

“Upon arriving at Molineux in December last year, Pereira and his coaches made an immediate impact and guided the team to second half Premier League success. However, results and performances this term have fallen below acceptable standards and as a result it has been decided that a change in leadership is necessary.”

“All eight of Pereira’s backroom staff have also left the club.”

Under-21s head coach James Collins and Under-18s head coach Richard Walker are in charge of Wolves on an interim basis, with a replacement expected to be appointed before next weekend’s game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. At that point, it will be hoped that they can finally achieve their goal of winning the Premier League, although a more realistic target might be against Crystal Palace after the international break.
