Amy Dunn and trainer Patrick Biancone will take a bold step with their horse I Know I Know in the $100,000 H. Allen Jerkens Handicap at Gulfstream Park this Saturday. The 3-year-old colt, sired by Jess’s Dream, will face the challenge of a demanding two-mile race, testing his stamina and racing capability.

Ainou Ainou has shown promise across 13 races with three wins and multiple placements, although he has yet to claim victory in most of his stakes starts. Biancone believes Saturday’s two-mile race for horses aged three and older will highlight the strengths of his homebred runners, whose endurance and long-distance racing style suits the course well.

Biancone describes I Know I Know as a tireless turf galloper with great stamina. The colt’s pedigree is notable, being a descendant of Curlin—the 2007 and 2008 Horse of the Year—and Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Horse of the Year. Despite having raced only once, I Know I Know proved his potential by winning his debut at Saratoga over 1 1/8 miles in 2015.

Biancone mentioned that I Know I Know continues to develop and grow as a competitor, initially expecting him to excel at a mile and a half, but now considering his ability at two miles. British jockey David Egan, who has experience riding at Gulfstream during the European flat season, will pilot I Know I Know, who carries odds of 10-1 in the race named after the late Hall of Fame trainer H. Allen Jerkens.

I Know I Know carries 117 pounds, including a three-pound allowance for being three years old, which is four pounds lighter than rivals Summer Cause and Risk Manager, both assigned 121 pounds. Summer Cause, a 5-year-old gelding with two-mile race experience, recently finished fourth in the John Forbes Memorial at Fairhill.

Summerkos, who initially raced on dirt, shifted to turf racing recently without securing a win in four starts. Tyler Gaffalione will ride Summer Cause, a favorite with 9-5 odds, for the first time on Saturday.

Risk Manager, trained by Mike Maker and ridden by Edgard Zayas, boasts 11 career wins and a strong fall season, including a win at Kentucky Downs over 1 5/16 miles. The 7-year-old son of Lookin’ at Lucky holds the second spot on the morning line.

Bellouni, a 5-year-old French gelding, placed closely behind Risk Manager in a recent race and will be ridden by Fernando Abreu. Meanwhile, Edwin Gonzalez will ride Berowni, who is listed at 7-2 odds.

Paddy Dollar from Imaginary Stables showed his best form in long-distance races in 2025, earning notable wins and placements in major stakes events. Miguel Vazquez will ride Padidle, trained by Elizabeth Dobres, who is given 5-1 odds. Both Berowni and Padidle will carry 119 pounds.

In his sixth career start, Coiled, ridden by Mark Grier and carrying 115 pounds with 8-1 odds, impressed in his last start at Laurel despite early setbacks. Jorge Luis is set to ride Laddie Buddy and Don’t Splash the Pot, both pegged at 20-1 odds, completing the competitive field.

Fan Take: This race highlights the increasing importance of stamina and endurance in American horse racing, as trainers and breeders explore longer distances. It could signal a shift towards more diverse race formats, appealing to fans who appreciate the skill and strategy involved in turf racing over extended distances.
