Here’s a look at the Arizona Republic’s All-Arizona Boys High School Golf Team for the fall 2025 season, along with honorable mentions and Coach of the Year. The 12 team members represent the Republic’s male golfer of the year candidates and will be announced in a separate article later this month, along with other top athletes in the AIA’s 2025 fall sports. Candidates (listed alphabetically) will be determined based on performance during the season, with emphasis on state championship tournaments, final season state rankings by iWanamaker, and PGA National High School Golf Association rankings starting in fall 2025.

Brophy Prep placed 11th overall for the second year in a row at the Division I Men’s Golf Championship on Nov. 6, 2025 at Aguila Golf Course.
Landon Ashcraft, Notre Dame Sr.: He won the Division II individual state title with a two-day total of 135, becoming the first high school golfer in Arizona history to win three consecutive state championships. He averaged 3.7 under par per round in AIA tournaments this season, finishing the season in first place in the iWanamaker scoring rankings. He is ranked No. 5 in the nation by the PGA High School Golf Association, with an average fall score of 67.5 per round. Led the Saints to the D-II team title.

Mateo Verastegui, Brophy, Sr.: Finished tied for fifth in the DI state finals (139 points) and tied for 24th in the PGA High School Golf Association rankings with an average score of 69.5 (his under-par average compiled by the association was slightly higher than 23rd place Joseph Nelson of Hamilton, but their average scores per round were the same).
Ethan Butters, Perry Jr.: He placed second in the Division I state individual finals with a two-day total of 135. He was 10th in the iWanamaker scoring rankings with a 12-round average of 2.1 under par. He is tied for fifth in the association rankings this fall with the same average score as Ashcraft.
Frederick Egnatius, Notre Dame Sr.: Scored a 136 at the D-II Individual State Championship to finish second, just one stroke behind teammate Ashcraft. He is one of four Arizona golfers who finished the season fifth in the nation in the PGA High School Golf Association with a season average score of 67.5.
Owen Greenough, Hamilton Jr.: Won the Division I individual state championship with a two-day score of 132, the lowest of any golfer in either division in the state finals. This fall, he ranked fifth in the iWanamaker season rankings with a round average of 2.7 under par, and ranked first in the PGA National High School Golf Association with a season average score of 66.

Hank Miller, Brophy, Thor.: Tied for second place at the DI state finals with a score of 135. His season average score was 67.5, which tied for fifth in the PGA National High School Golf Association. A key player on the Broncos’ DI state championship team.
Xander Mulder, Notre Dame Sr.: Finished fourth at the D-II Individual State Championship (138). He ranks 14th in the PGA National High School Golf Association men’s golf rankings with a season average score of 69.
Asher Nelson, Brophy Jr.: Like teammate Miller, tied for second in the DI state finals with a score of 135. The champion Broncos recorded a season average score of 67.5 and finished the season tied for fifth in the PGA National High School Golf Association men’s golf rankings.
Joseph Nelson, Hamilton Sr.: With an average score of 69.5, tied for fifth in the DI State Finals (139) and finished 23rd in the PGA National High School Golf Association rankings.

Hogan O’Malley, Crown of the Sun, Sr..: He averaged 3.1 under par in the AIA 14 rounds this fall, earning him second place in the iWanamaker rankings. He was 55th in the PGA National High School Golf Association rankings with a season average score of 71. He finished 12th at the DI State Finals with a two-day score of 142.
Easton Reischl, Horizon, Thor.: Finished third at the D-II Individual State Tournament (137) and 14th at the PGA National High School Golf Association with a season average score of 68.5.
Jacob Stanley, Desert Vista Jr.: Ranked 30th in the United States by the PGA National High School Golf Association, with an average score of 70. Ranked 5th on iWanamaker with a round average of 2.77 under par. Tied for 7th in the state DI finals (140).

Coach of the Year
Scott Watkins, Notre Dame: The Saints will continue to be a team loaded with talented golfers in 2025, and Watkins took full advantage of that, leading Notre Dame Prep to its second straight Division II championship. His team was runner-up the previous two seasons. He has led the Saints program for the past seven years.
