Leeds are aiming to strengthen their squad for the second half of the Premier League season and are planning to sign a contract in January. Defense is one of the areas that needs to be worked on, which is why the club’s sporting department has set out its goals.
Daniel Farke’s move to a 3-5-2 system has been very effective, with good results against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Crystal Palace. The decision to play another centre-back means that increased depth in this position would be welcome, with El Shadaiil Bitsiab being one of the options being considered.
Leeds interested in signing El Shadayu Bitsiab in January
According to TEAMtalk (via Leeds United News), Leeds are targeting a deal for Bitsiab, who will be allowed to leave Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig when the transfer window opens next week.
Bitsiab has struggled to make an impression this season, making just five appearances in all competitions. RB Leipzig are not expecting him for the time being, so Leeds could step in.
Should Leeds sign El Shadaille Bitsiab?
Leeds don’t have many left-footed defenders, with Pascal Strujk and Gabriel Gutmundsson the only regular options for Falke. Bringing competition late in the season makes a lot of sense, and Bitsiab would provide just that.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds can strike a deal with RB Leipzig for Bitsiab. A permanent deal is unlikely, but Elland Road officials will be given the chance to sign him on loan in the coming weeks.
