On Saturday, the first foal of G1 winner More Than Lux was born, marking a notable trifecta in the breeding world.

Bred by Sampson Racing Stables at Chesapeake Farm in Kentucky, the colt is sired by Mizzen Mast and out of Eden Prairie—a mare with multiple stakes wins and earnings totaling $425,000. Eden Prairie is also the dam of Minnesota Lady, winner of the Grade 3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland, and is connected to More Than Lady.

Collier Mathes of Chesapeake Ranch expressed great enthusiasm for the stallion, calling him a strong, handsome individual. He highlighted that the success of More Than Ready with the dam made breeding her to More Than Lux an easy choice, and he envisions a bright future for this horse.

Meanwhile, in Kentucky, a filly was born at Machamer Hall, out of the mare Clear Voice, who is by Cantros and is related to Vegas Magic, a graded stakes winner aged 6 to 2 years old. Carrie Brogden from Machmar Hall shared excitement about the long-legged filly, sired by More Than Looks, noting her beautiful expression and elegant presence.

Florida saw the birth of the third foal in this trifecta: a colt from Tag Stables, out of Spirited Storm, a mare by Stormy Atlantic. Spirited Storm is the dam of Uncaptured Spirit, a Grade 2 finisher, and Spirited Boss, the 2025 Sanibel Island Stakes winner. Sherry Fournier of Ranholm South described the colt as a large stallion with a vibrant personality and keen intelligence.

More Than Looks first made his graded debut in the G3 Manila Stakes at Belmont Park, prevailing against a field of graded and stakes winners. He then claimed victory by nearly three lengths in the $200,000 Jefferson Cup Stakes at Churchill Downs, earning a high Beyer speed figure of 101.

At age four, More Than Lux competed exclusively in Grade 1 races, highlighted by his thrilling Breeders’ Cup Mile win against a highly competitive international lineup featuring eight Group 1 winners. This victory earned him his career-best Beyer speed figure of 105 and boosted his total earnings to $1,870,715.

Bred by Hinkle Farms, More Than Looks descends from the lineage of multiple G1 winner Critical Eye. His dam, Ladies Privilege—sired by Harlan’s Holiday—is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner TakeOver Target. Currently, More Than Looks stands at stud for $10,000.

Fan Take: For horse racing enthusiasts, the arrival of these foals from celebrated bloodlines symbolizes fresh hope and excitement for the sport’s future. Tracking the careers of these promising young horses could reveal new champions that will sustain and elevate the tradition of elite racing.
