  • Chelsea faces stiff competition Eduardo Conceição
  • Chelsea have recently focused on South American youth

Chelsea are reportedly in a high-stakes battle to sign Palmeiras’ latest wonder, Eduardo Conceição, as the club continues its aggressive recruitment of the world’s most elite teenage talent.

The 16-year-old winger has been the subject of an intense transfer war, with The Times reporting that Chelsea are currently competing with Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG for his signature.

A standout player for Brazil’s U-17 national team, Conceição is considered one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from South America since former teammate Endrick.

Early suitors reportedly tried to secure a deal in the region of £25m, but Palmeiras are holding out for a much higher sum.

The Brazilian giant is reportedly protecting its assets with a €100m (£87m) release clause, but industry experts expect a compromise closer to the €40m-€50m range, including performance-related add-ons.

Manchester City, under new sporting director Hugo Viana, were previously thought to be the frontrunners.

But with the arrival of Chelsea and Barcelona, the latter desperate to avoid repeating the mistakes of missing out on the likes of Endrick and Estevao Willian, the pursuit has become a multi-club sprint.

Other clubs are vying for his contributions as well. The Daily Briefing previously reported that both Arsenal and Liverpool had their bids for the exciting youngster rejected.

Newcastle have also been linked with the Brazilian, with reports suggesting the Magpies have also submitted an offer to sign him.

Conceição has already made an impact in 2026, scoring four goals and providing three assists in just seven appearances in Copina’s prestigious youth competition.

Chelsea have recently focused on South American youth

Under the ownership of Todd Boley and Clearlake Capital, Chelsea pioneered a ‘buy young’ strategy, specifically targeting the South American market.

Conceição fits the profile of recent high-profile players such as Estebao Willian and Kendry Paes.

Chelsea’s recent strategic partnership with River Plate further underlines their intention to dominate the region.

Securing Conceição would not only weaken the Blues’ future rivals, but also ensure they have one of the most formidable under-21 attacking talent groups in world football.
