Marcus Rashford has no plans to play for Manchester United again, according to a shocking report from Mundo Deportivo.

The 28-year-old forward, who is currently on a season-long loan at Barcelona, has reportedly decided that his professional future lies exclusively at Spotify’s Camp Nou.

His contract with the Red Devils runs until 2028, but Rashford believes Hansi Flick’s Barcelona style of play suits his characteristics much better than the Old Trafford environment.

Following his clinical goal in Barça’s recent win over Getafe, the English player believes he has done well enough to earn permanent residence in Catalonia.

His statistics back up his confidence. In 2,333 minutes, Rashford contributed to 26 goals (13 goals and 11 assists, plus two penalties).

This averages out to him contributing a goal every 89 minutes, a rate that currently outstrips many elite attackers across La Liga.

According to reports, Rashford is prepared to make a huge financial sacrifice. Barcelona currently have a €30m buyout option valid until June, but are reluctant to pull the trigger due to the club’s ongoing financial constraints.

Rashford has reportedly indicated that he is willing to give up a “generous portion” of his current salary after learning Barça are looking to reduce both the transfer fee and long-term wage commitments for the player, who turns 29 in October.

Tottenham keen to sign Rashford

Rashford’s heart is set on Spain, but there are other suitors lurking if his deal with Barcelona falls through. Tottenham have emerged as first choice to bring the player back to the Premier League.

Spurs are monitoring the situation closely and are reportedly considering Rashford as a potential signing to lead their rebuild under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

However, a move to north London remains complicated by Tottenham’s current league position and Rashford’s own desire to remain at Barcelona.
