With Tottenham experiencing a tough fight for survival, the Chelsea faithful seized the opportunity to twist the knife, turning a wrong pass or a harsh touch into a moment of collective ridicule.

I heard Chelsea fans shouting at Tottenham.

BBC Sport’s Chelsea correspondent Nizar Kinsella said the home crowd were very happy to have Spurs reminded of their current uncertainty in the league.

Kinsella pointed out that he really enjoyed hearing Chelsea fans shout “That’s why you go down” every time a Tottenham player made a mistake on the pitch.

“Chelsea fans enjoy shouting “That’s why you go down” every time a Tottenham player makes a mistake.”

The brutal taunt was intended to remind Tottenham, who sit 17th, just two points above the relegation zone, of their current position in the league.

Losing against Chelsea means they will be fighting for survival on the final day of the season and will need a win.

Andrei Santos doubles Chelsea’s lead

Enzo Fernandes put Chelsea ahead with a stunning opening goal early in the first half, and Andrei Santos added Tottenham’s second.

The goal was a soft one as Enzo lofted a simple cross towards the back post for Santos, who smashed it home from close range.

Spurs fans won’t be happy to see them concede so easily.
