Germany made a flying start to the 2026 World Cup by taking a lightning lead against Curacao within just six minutes, thanks to a moment of pure magic from Felix Nmeka.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder lit up the stadium from the start and finished off a breathtaking team move that highlighted the true depth of Germany’s talent.

The opening goal came from brilliant, fluid link-up play from Liverpool star Florian Wirtz.

Felix Nmeka combines with Florian Wirtz to score Germany’s first goal

Nmeka picked up a sharp pass in the final third and immediately aimed it at Wirtz.

The variations between the two playmakers combined effortlessly, trading quick and instinctive one-twos that completely cut open the Curaçao defense.

Giving the ball back to Nmeka on the edge of the penalty area, the Dortmund star didn’t hesitate and struck the ball for the first time, curling beautifully into the top right corner and firing straight into the goal.

Curacao’s goalkeeper was stranded as the ball flew into the post, much to the early delight of the home crowd.
