Arsenal are preparing for a new signing after Bruno Guimarães informed Newcastle of his desire to leave the club and join the Gunners.

Fabrizio Romano: ‘Arsenal are preparing a new offer for Bruno Guimarães’
Arsenal are preparing a new formal bid for Bruno Guimarães, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Mikel Arteta has fostered this interest internally and is keen to have him at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have already tested Newcastle’s resolve twice, with an initial bid of £55m rejected, followed by a second offer worth £65m.
Romano has suggested that a price between £65m and £90m could accelerate negotiations between the clubs.
The journalist also revealed that Guimarães told Newcastle’s senior management last week that he wanted to move to the Emirates Stadium. However, the Brazil international had no intention of forcing him to leave, choosing to leave the final decision in the hands of both clubs.
The development was also reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, who stated that Guimarães has officially expressed his desire to join Arsenal.
While Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit and indicated they are willing to offer a package worth up to £60m, Ornstein pointed out that official contact between the clubs remains limited.
Newcastle’s public stance remains very adamant, insisting the Magpies will not entertain a bid for the 28-year-old captain.
Newcastle are under no immediate funding pressure, having already parted ways with key assets Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer for a combined £160m.
Bruno Guimarães would be a great addition for Arsenal
The signing of Guimarães would be a major statement of intent for the current Premier League champions.
The midfielder is widely regarded as one of England’s most complete box-to-box operators, fresh off a strong season in which he recorded four assists for Brazil at the Individual World Cup.
His progressive passing, pressing resistance and ball-winning qualities add a new dimension to Arteta’s midfield and could form one of Europe’s strongest trios alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
Guimarães, 28, is at the peak of his career and will bring immediate impact and leadership to Arsenal as they look to defend their Premier League title and challenge for another spot in the Champions League.
