  • Liverpool increase interest in defensive talent
  • Dortmund deal could increase final price

Liverpool and Arsenal could be heading into a new direct transfer battle as both clubs look to strengthen the left side of their defence.

Premier League rivals are interested in the young player, who is capable of going well beyond traditional full-back qualities, and his ability to move into midfield makes him particularly attractive to possession-oriented teams.

The priority for Liverpool appears to be finding a dynamic long-term option who can provide energy and progression from the left.

Arsenal are approaching the situation from a squad depth perspective, seeing diversity as increasingly important amid another tough season in domestic and European competition.

Liverpool increase interest in defensive talent

This was revealed by a person close to the agent industry. catch off side Liverpool have Daniel Svensson firmly on their transfer agenda and reportedly have concrete plans to sign the Borussia Dortmund star.

Both clubs could use him in several tactical roles, as the Sweden international can operate as a left-back, wing-back or midfielder.

Liverpool.com also reported interest from Liverpool, claiming that the Reds and Arsenal had both earmarked the Borussia Dortmund defender as potential summer targets.

His energy, technical quality and willingness to move centrally would suit a team that wants their full-backs to contribute significantly in possession.

AC Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid are also rumored to be interested in him, but England seem to be the most interested at the moment.

Dortmund deal could increase final price

Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position after making Svensson a permanent move from FC Nordsjæll in 2025.

Official statements from the club have confirmed that his contract runs until June 2029, meaning there is no pressure to accept a reduced offer.

Previous reports put the defender’s value at between €35m and €45m, but increased competition could push the overall package closer to €50m.

Dortmund’s history of developing and selling young talent also means they are unlikely to approve a deal unless their reputation is fully respected.

Svensson could be the smarter signing, as Liverpool’s long-term left-back need is more pressing. His athleticism and midfield experience would give the Reds some tactical possibilities.

Arsenal should remain involved, but only at a reasonable price. They already have strong defensive options, so it will be difficult to justify paying close to 50 million euros for a new rotation player.

Svensson is a huge prospect, but both clubs must allow competition and avoid turning a smart chance into an expensive gamble.
