  • Julian Brandt reveals whether he prefers Leeds or Ajax on offer
        • How Leeds were able to sign an even better English player than James Trafford

Leeds have spent much of the summer looking for players who can help them establish themselves in the Premier League, and Julian Brandt would undoubtedly be a great bet.

Daniel Farke’s side have already strengthened key areas of their squad, but injecting fresh creativity remains a priority for Los Blancos.

Bringing in a player of Brunt’s experience and quality would immediately improve the level of the squad and provide valuable leadership in a dressing room that is still adjusting to the demands of England’s first team.

Brandt is now 30 years old, but remains one of Germany’s best attacking midfielders.

After joining Borussia Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, he spent seven seasons at Signal Iduna Park, making over 300 appearances in all competitions.

During that period, he scored over 120 goals and assists in total, helping Dortmund win the DFB Pokal and playing a key role in the club’s passage to the Champions League final.

His ability to function as a number 10, wide playmaker or advanced midfielder has made him one of the Bundesliga’s most versatile attacking players.

Brandt continued to show his quality in his final season at Dortmund.

He finished with 7 goals and 4 assists in 25/26 games, despite sharing playing time with a side change. Although he is no longer at the peak of his career, his vision, passing range, and intelligence on the ball are still his greatest strengths.

That is why Leeds remained interested throughout the summer.

Julian Brandt reveals whether he prefers Leeds or Ajax on offer

According to Sky Sports journalist Ginny Boswell, Brandt currently has contract offers from both Leeds and Ajax after his contract with Dortmund expires.

According to Boswell, the former Germany international is understood to be in favor of a move to Elland Road as he is attracted by the opportunity to play in the Premier League for the first time in his career.

However, the reporter added that Brandt would also be interested in a move to Serie A if a concrete offer is received in the near future.

Signing a player of Brandt’s pedigree without paying a transfer fee would be shrewd business. Few clubs in the lower mid-tier of the Premier League have the opportunity to recruit a player who has played more than 300 games for Borussia Dortmund and has nearly 50 caps for Germany.

However, there are still risks.

Brandt has never played outside Germany before and adjusting to the intensity of the Premier League will be a new challenge at the age of 30. His consistency has been questioned at times throughout his career, but any deal will almost certainly come with a hefty paycheck.

Still, Leeds appear keen to explore opportunities.

Falke knows Brandt well from his time in German football, but Leeds’ sporting department will recognize the value of adding an experienced international with the ability to create chances.

Nothing has been agreed at this stage and competition continues.

Ajax continue to offer the possibility of joining European football, and Serie A clubs could still join if they formally express interest, but the latest updates suggest Leeds are in a strong position.
