Nottingham Forest’s determination to sign Zivairo Reid shows no signs of slowing, with the Premier League club continuing to push for one of Dutch football’s most talented young defenders.

Forest have already had two offers rejected by Feyenoord this summer, but that hasn’t dampened their interest in the club.

Instead, the club have continued discussions, considering how best to convince the Eredivisie side to let go of one of their most highly-rated players.

Strengthening the right-back position is clearly a priority as manager Oliver Glasner continues to rebuild his squad ahead of the new season.

Reed had a remarkable breakout season last year.

The 20-year-old has established himself as Feyenoord’s first-choice right-back over the past two seasons, producing a string of mature performances in domestic and European competitions.

Comfortable forward but equally reliable in defence, he quickly gained a reputation for his speed, energy and quality of possession.

His impressive display, which he also captained in Feyenoord’s latest pre-season friendly, highlights the confidence already placed in him despite his young age.

Reid suffered a serious hamstring injury that limited him to 25 or 26 games and only played 20 games in all competitions, but he has plenty of quality.

Nottingham Forest offer read five-year contract to join in third bid

According to Dutch journalist Joost Brauchov, Forrest is now stepping up his efforts again.

The Brauhof newspaper reports that the Premier League side are “serious” about the move and are preparing a third bid for the Dutch defender. He added that Reed is already on a five-year contract if the move is ultimately completed.

The latest update also brings another important development.

international football Forest’s third offer is reportedly worth around £21m after their previous bid was rejected by Feyenoord. However, the Dutch club believe Reid’s value is quite high and are reluctant to lose a player who is under contract until 2029.

The report also states that the defender himself is attracted to the opportunity to play in the Premier League, leaving Forest with an important decision to make.

If Feyenoord continue to resist all approaches, they could either improve their offer again or look in another direction. However, given the club’s tenacity during the period, there is little sign that they are ready to abandon negotiations.

From Feyenoord’s perspective, that attitude is understandable.

Reid has developed into one of the most exciting young defenders in the Eredivisie and it will not be easy to replace him just weeks before the new season.

Due to the long-term contract, the Rotterdam club remains in full control of the negotiations. But Forest appear equally determined.
