Igor Thiago became one of the standout names in the winter transfer window. His strong performances for Brentford have seen him attract the attention of the Premier League giants.

This was revealed by a person close to the player’s situation. catch off side Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all expressed “serious interest”, with Serie A and La Liga clubs also reportedly eyeing the Brazilian striker.

Thiago has scored 12 goals in 16 games this season.

Brentford set asking price for Igor Thiago

Brentford’s stance is clear, with the club setting a hefty €70 million fee, with some reports saying it could be £70 million. These figures make a move in January difficult, especially considering Thiago’s contract runs until 2029. Brentford are reluctant to lose such an important player midway through the season.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery sees Thiago as a long-term replacement for Ollie Watkins and could ask for a fee in the range of €50 million to €57 million. Tottenham are considering a loan move, but Brentford are not interested. Newcastle, who signed Yoan Wissa from Brentford in the summer, have yet to see him play due to injury, but believe Thiago is the ideal signing to strengthen their attack.

Given Brentford’s position, a big move is unlikely in January. However, strong offers are expected to arrive in the summer. For Thiago, the priority is to continue to play regularly, perform well and secure a spot in Brazil’s squad for the next World Cup.

He will aim to compete at a high level and join a big club. Perhaps a move to Tottenham would be more attractive for him than the other two clubs. Tottenham have an exciting project underway and recently won the UEFA Europa League. A quality striker could make a huge difference in the final third and this move would be ideal for all parties.

It will be interesting to see if they are willing to pay the asking price in the summer.
