  • Frank sacked after defeat against Newcastle
        • ‘Outstanding’ 4-2-3-1 manager replaces Frank in first slot at Tottenham
  • ‘Unbelievable’ De Zerbi could be ideal replacement for Frank

An “incredible” manager is keen to replace Thomas Frank in the Tottenham Hotspur dugout following the latter’s departure on Wednesday morning.

Frank sacked after defeat against Newcastle

Frank ultimately failed to make the step up from Brentford, winning just 13 of his 38 games in charge, and Tottenham announced his departure on Wednesday morning, but a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United was the final straw.

Spurs currently sit 16th in the Premier League table and it is vital that ENIC gets his next appointment right, but journalist Ryan Taylor has some doubts as to whether the leaders are willing to take the job.

It could therefore make sense to follow Manchester United’s path of bringing in an interim manager until the end of the season, with one manager already in line for that slot.

Frank was relieved of his duties.

However, the Lilywhites may be looking to bring in a more experienced manager in the long term, with new updates on Roberto De Zerbi’s potential appointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

TEAMtalk reports that De Zerbi is now open to replacing Frank in the dugout, after previously being reluctant because he did not want to work with Daniel Levy or Fabio Paratici.

However, following reforms at board level, the former Brighton manager is said to be open to a move to north London, a possibility he has only recently left Ligue 1 side Marseille by mutual consent.

‘Unbelievable’ De Zerbi could be ideal replacement for Frank

The 46-year-old’s move from Marseille comes as a bit of a surprise, given that the French side currently sit in fourth place and are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League once again.

The Italian also has Premier League experience and was praised by pundit Danny Murphy as “incredible” after Brighton’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in 2023.

Liverpool manager Arne Slott is also under no illusions about how talented the former Brighton manager is, speaking highly of him last month.

De Zerbi, who prefers to use a 4-2-3-1 formation, could be a great replacement for Frank and the timing is perfect as Tottenham can sign him without paying compensation.
